Maddison

Maddison Grogan – 2011

Maddison is a Freshman at Northeastern University where she is studying to be a Physical Therapist. Her plans are to continue with graduate degrees and work with Sports Injury and Prevention. Maddison was an outstanding student at Acton Boxboro High School, and is very involved with many community and charitable activities including The Jimmy Fund, Friendly House, and a Peer Tutoring Service. Maddison is mentoring a child in Boston through the Mass Mentoring Program. Currently a member of the Northeastern Figure Skating Team, Maddison joined the Colleges Against Cancer Club at Northeastern. She recently volunteered at the Hope Lodge, which is a living center for cancer patients while they receive their treatment. Maddison is also helping organize the Relay for Life at Northeastern. All the money earned goes to research and the American Cancer Society. Maddison received $2000 towards her tuition at Northeastern University.

Gabrielle

Gabrielle Lucivero – 2011

Gabrielle Hails from Boylston, Massachusetts where she was a member of the National Honors Society at Tahanto Regional High School. There she was also very active in giving back to the community through various fundraisers and events. Gabrielle also started a video blog call “talk Tahano” which gave students an opportunity to voice their opinions as well as promote the talents and achievements of the student population. Now in her sophomore year at Boston University, Gabrielle is a Broadcast Journalist Major and a DJ on WBUR, Boston University’s radio station. She is also a member of BUTV10’s “The Wire” news team.

Curran Oi

Curran Oi – 2010

Curran is in his first year at MIT and was a national Merit Scholar and a member of the National Honor Society. His goal is to earn bachelors and graduate degrees in nuclear engineering. He then wants to become involved in research to make nuclear fusion a feasible clean energy source for the future.

During his skating Career, Curran not only achieved great success both Nationally and on the International scene, but also regularly donated his talents by skating in numerous fund-raising shows across the country. Curran also ran he annual food drive at the Skating Club of Boston, where is a member.

Brittney Rizo

Brittney Rizo – 2010

A Freshman at Northeastern University, Brittney hopes to be a psychologist, specializing in Sports Psychology. She was recognized for her achievement both scholastically and as an athlete from the superintendent of Schools in Braintree, MA, where she attended high school and graduated with honors. She continues to donate her time and efforts with a host of charities including:
American Cancer Society
American Foundation for Suicide Prevention
Leukemia and Lymphoma Society
Salvation Army
Children’s Hospital
Jimmy Fund and the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute;

Brittney has also received the Ward Award from the Skating Club of Boston for being a significant role model for younger athletes.

Louann Donovan

Louann Donovan – 2009

Louann was awarded the 2008 Tommy Martin Fund Scholarship of $3,000. She was inducted into the National Scholars Honor Society in 2008 for academic excellence and was on the dean’s list all four years at her high school, the Newman School where she graduated Cum Laude. Ms. Donovan holds a 3.72 GPA at Simmons, where she is studying Business Management. She has given back to the community through her work with special needs children, as well as through volunteering at her local Senior Center. In addition to her academic excellence and community involvement, Ms. Donovan was the 2002 National Junior Ladies Champion and 2 time World Junior Competitor. She aspires to own her own business and to continue to give back to the figure skating community through coaching.

Kelvin Vu

Kelvin Vu – 2008

Kelvin was the recipient of the 2007 Tommy Martin Fund Scholarship. He is attending Yale University. Vu was awarded $3,000 toward his college tuition. Vu graduated third in his class at Algonquin Regional High School in Northborough, Mass., and holds a 3.88 grade point average at Yale, where he is studying ecology and evolutionary biology. He has given back to the community through his work with special needs children. Vu has competed at the U.S. Championships twice and the U.S. Junior Championships three times. He was a member of the 2007 State Farm Scholastic Honors Team. He aspires to attend graduate school to pursue a degree in ecological biology and hopes to one day support and participate in ecosystem research and conservation.

Teri Harte

Teri Harte – 2007

The Tommy Martin Fund has awarded the 2007 Scholarship to Teri Harte, a Dean’s list Communications and Public Relations major at Bridgewater State College in Bridgewater, Mass. Ms Harte was awarded $3000 towards her college tuition. Teri, along with all of the applicants, demonstrated exceptional academic prowess. She differentiated herself through her energy and passion for giving back to the community. She has planned and directed numerous charity events, including the Karen Morrison Skate-a-thon as well as “Holiday on Ice” which benefits the Victoria Duffy scholarship. She hopes to pursue a career in event planning and to keep her hand in the sport as a choreographer.

Amanda Marston

Amanda Marston – 2006

Amanda Marstin was the recipient of the 2006 Tommy Martin Fund Scholarship. She is a gold medalist in moves in the field and free skating, and a Dean’s List student at Emerson College. Marston received $3,000 toward her college tuition.

Nicole Ward – 2005

Nicole was the recipient of the 2005 Tommy Martin Fund Scholarship. The scholarship supported her studies at the University of Iowa.

Kaitlyn Duddy – 2004

Kaitlyn was the recipient of the 2004 Tommy Martin Fund Scholarship. At the time of the scholarship, she was attending Qunnipiac University.

Rachel Lamothe – 2003

Rachel was the recipient of the 2003 Tommy Martin Fund Scholarship. She was attending St Michaels.

Molly Ziolkowski – 2002

Molly was awarded the first scholarship from theTommy Martin Fund. The scholarship supported her education at Saint Anselms College.
